How do I configure SMS templates within triggers? 


Answer

SMS templates are prepared in Data Management before Triggers are set up in the Trigger Module. Commonly used SMS templates include, ‘Debit Dishonour’, ‘Class Cancellation’, ‘Happy Birthday’ and ‘Pass Top Up’. Like the email templates, data/merge fields can be used to include contact specific information. See section 1.10 for a full list of available data/merge fields. 

To create a new SMS template:

  1. Launch DATA MANAGEMENT.
  2. Search and select SMS TEMPLATES.
  3. Click NEW.
  4. Enter a Name for the template.
  5. Enter the Content of the SMS.
  6. Add applicable Merge Fields to your template - click the grey vertical bar with the menu icon on the right-hand side of your content (displayed as ≡) and select an option from the drop-down menu.
  7. Click SAVE. 

Note: One standard SMS is general 160 characters including spaces for a single message, reduced to 153 characters when spanning multiple messages. Multiple credits will be charged if an SMS exceeds these limitations.
